I recently completed the Certificate in Bookkeeping with Pitman Training Limerick and had a positive experience.
The course covered Bookkeeping Modules 1, 2 and 3, along with Sage 50 Accounts, and gives you the foundation needed to start a career in finance or accounting. Everything is delivered through structured, pre-recorded modules, so you work through it independently and complete tasks as you go.
The biggest advantage for me was the flexibility. I could study in my own time and at my own pace, which made it easy to fit around work and life commitments. Liga was the main person I dealt with — she facilitated exams and ensured I had everything I needed throughout, which made the process straightforward.
One honest point for anyone considering the course: you do need to be self-motivated. It’s not a traditional classroom setting with in-person teaching — you’re working through the material independently. The flexibility is excellent, but it does require discipline and commitment.
I started with zero knowledge of bookkeeping and no business background, so it genuinely felt like learning a new language. By the end, I felt confident with the terminology and principles. I sometimes joke that I’m now bilingual in English and accounting!

Pitman Training Limerick is an excellent centre with very informative course advisors. I did the Sage 50 Accounts course and they were very helpful. They went above & beyond by allowing me to study from home by giving me the sage on my laptop. Liga was my course advisor & she is a credit to Pitman Training Limerick. Any email or phone call I made Liga was on hand to help. I have to give her 100% for her knowledge she shared & any query was never an issue for her to help with, she has great patience.
