I first decided to upgrade my skills after an interview with an employer that advised me that my ECDL qualification was out of date. As you can well imagine, I was initially horrified to learn this, I had completed the ECDL nearly 12 years previously and naturally presumed that this was still a valuable qualification on my CV. As soon as I got home I went straight onto the Internet to see what courses where currently available in my area. There were lots of courses and providers available to choose from locally, however, I felt that now at this point I wanted to do a higher qualification of office computer skills and practices which would be recognised internationally.
I came across Pitman Training and recognised them from a typing course I had completed years ago. After looking into the wide range of courses available I decided to give them a call. After arranging an appointment at their nearest training centre in Limerick, and talking in great detail about my work experience and current qualifications we agreed that the course I would start with was the "Fast-Track Microsoft Skills Diploma" by home study.
The training advisor I spoke with was very helpful, re-assuring and accommodating in every way. All the concerns and issues I had in terms of the home study were easily sorted out. She made me feel very welcome and gave me the confidence that I needed.
Soon after completing the Pitman Fast Track Microsoft Skills Diploma, with a distinction, I received a call from the training centre advising me of a job vacancy in a local hotel as a receptionist. I was delighted! But was even happier to advise her that I had just been offered a job as a dental receptionist locally.
I am so happy that I chose Pitman Training Limerick to upgrade my skills. The trainers in Pitman Training are professional in every way. They made me feel like an individual and that any problems I had could be overcome. The real deciders for me were that there were several options on ways to study whether it was centre base study or home study. I have also been advised that Pitman Training now have on-line learning available so I will definitely be looking into the next course suitable for me.
